Our fully digitised pre-press facility is based on a postscript pdf workflow together with conventional ripped files. Either can be sent to any one of our devices for proofing or direct to our Creo Trendsetter for platesetting.

Press Hall
Our philosophy has always been to invest only in the best. We have a range of Heidelberg Speedmaster multi-colour and perfecting sheet-fed presses upto B1. Each press includes autoplate load and register, CPC 104, ink temperature control and IR dryers, hence producing the highest quality print.

Image Control System
Demonstration of how Alltrade are embracing the latest technology is seen through a brand new Image Control Centre, a colour management system for quality control outside the press. This is an additional piece of equipment linked from the Repro Department via the Computer to Plate (CtP) system to all the new printing equipment. CIP3 Interface sends image data from pre-press direct to the presses for automatic makeready.

To monitor ink zone settings in individual printing units all you need to do is scan in a press sheet with Image Control taking about 25 seconds for a B1 sheet. This takes a spectrophotometric measure of the entire printed image, so instead of reading the ink density from the colour bars from the edge of the sheet it reads the entire sheet - a far more accurate measure.

This will give approximately 1000 times as much data as reading just the colour bar! The advantages for fine tuning the individual ink zones of each printing units are clear.

If a print job is to be reprinted - the Image Control can store several thousand past jobs; the job number can simply be input and the print machine's ink settings will be set up automatically - saving time and ensuring accurate colour match.
